Gluten-Free Pie Crust – a List of Recommendations

Gluten-Free Pie Crust

For those that cannot tolerate wheat, one of the hardest things to find is a tasty gluten-free pie crust. Although there are different kinds sold online and in specific stores, most of them do not look or taste even remotely similar to the famous gluten pie crust.

The best option for solving this dilemma is finding a good recipe for gluten-free pie crust and baking it yourself; however, making a pie crust by hand is very time-consuming. Many people with gluten intolerance find themselves longing to use the pre-made gluten pie crusts that are sold in all grocery stores. Read the list of best brands.

So, we have put together a list of gluten-free pie crust mixes (which are generally much easier to use than baking a crust from scratch), along with descriptions and reviews of each in order to simplify your baking needs.

1)  Gluten-Free Pantry Perfect Pie Crust Mix

This forms a flaky, old-fashioned, nicely textured pie crust with honey and rice flour
Besides being gluten-free and wheat-free, it contains no cholesterol or trans fat
Easy to locate at your local health food store or any grocery store that sells gluten-free products
This mix is quick and easy to use
Tastes quite similar to the typical wheat pie crust

Note: With this pie crust mix, you must first chill the dough before putting it into a pie pan. Chilling
the dough makes it much easier to work with.

2) Kinnikinnick Crumbs – Graham Style Crumbs

These crumbs make a great-tasting, gluten-free graham cracker crust
This crust looks and tastes almost exactly the same as a wheat graham cracker crust
Ordering it online is the best purchasing option
Great for cheesecakes, key lime pies and and holiday bars
These crumbs form a no-bake crust, making it very cost and time efficient

3) Williams-Sonoma Gluten-Free Pie Crust Mix

This mix forms a rich, buttery-tasting crust
Like its gluten counterpart, the pie crust is light and flaky
Good for pies, pastries, and strudels
The dough is nicely textured and easy to work with
It is best to purchase this mix online as this brand is rarely sold in grocery store

Note: The only downside to this particular gluten-free pie crust mix is that it is more expensive
than the other brands mentioned

4) OliveNation – Gluten-Free All Purpose Flour and Pie Crust

This flour makes a delicious, flaky pie crust
Besides being gluten-free, this mix is dairy-free, corn-free and soy-free
You can also use this gluten-free all purpose mix to make cakes, cookies, cupcakes and strudels
This brand can only be found online

Note: There will be times when this product is out of stock. Be sure to check their website frequently.

These are definitely the best gluten-free pie crust mixes on the market. Although mixes are not as easy to use as those pre-made gluten pie crusts you see in all of the grocery stores, they definitely help to make life a little easier (and little tastier) for those with Celiac or Gluten Intolerance. Hopefully, someone will invent a truly delicious, well-textured and inexpensive pre-made, gluten-free pie crust in the near future.
